Health Information Associates (HIA) is a privately held company that was founded in 1992 by Betsy Bailey, RHIA and her father, Deane Beamer, MHA. Prior to 1992, Betsy held Director of HIM positions at two hospitals in Virginia. Deane has over thirty years of experience as an administrator working in various hospitals throughout the Southeast.
Since its inception, HIA has partnered with hundreds of hospitals nationwide to provide customized comprehensive coding review and support services. We’ve grown to become highly respected because of our ability to adapt to industry changes while maintaining high quality and integrity in our approach. HIA’s attention to individual client needs, from the smallest critical access hospital to the largest healthcare corporation, has led to the type of long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships we are fortunate to share with our clients.

President and CEO
A founder of the company, Betsy brings her Health Information Administration degree and years of experience at large and small hospitals to HIA’s leadership. As a RHIA, Betsy understands clients’ changing needs. One could say she is the navigator of HIA’s family corporate culture that retains strong employees who take pride in their work.
Vice President of Business Development
Joel’s education and background in marketing to hospitals have made him an integral part of HIA’s growth over the years. The savvy he has shown for new business development, as well as his grasp of the industry, has led to strong management and innovation within the company. Joel is always cooking up new ways to improve service and delivery.
Vice President of Operations
Angie’s dedication to HIA’s success plays a key role in her leadership and management style. She holds a degree in Health Information Administration and has strong experience in medical records and quality assurance. As a RHIA, Angie’s background and flexible nature are invaluable to HIA’s operations, including managing HR issues, Coding Support Services, and nearly everything else under the sun.
Director of Information Services
While technology seems alien to some, Daniel has a way of simplifying IT solutions and helping us forge new frontiers as we strive to serve our clients more effectively. You might say his talent and expertise are out of this world.
Director of Client Development
Drew has worked in healthcare sales/account management his entire career. His depth of industry knowledge helps him to understand clients’ needs and provide meaningful solutions. He is as enthusiastic and committed to building successful business partnerships as he is for his alma mater, Virginia Tech.
Executive Director of Education
Patricia has over 35 years expertise in the areas of ICD-10-CM, CPT, DRG/APC validation Professional Fee E&M coding, Interventional Radiology, and Facility E&M coding. She is recognized across the industry as an expert in continuing education. Along with quality control, she goes the extra mile to keep our industry-leading programs perfectly tuned for seasoned staff, new recruits and, of course, our valued clients.
